Happy New Year!

January 8th, 2018

As we say hello to a new year, it is nice to look back and reflect on what happened in the past.

In 2017 we welcomed a new Thursday Summer League Coordinator, Ryan Lowe, as well as a couple new Board Members, Andrew Smith, Brad Sawdon and Stephanie Wood, and a new Operations Coordinator, yours truly, Jocelyne Stone. Saying hello generally means there are a few goodbyes as well. We say goodbye to PUL’s first ever Operations Coordinator, Marj MacDonald and Board Members Kyle Dupont, Adam Hanes, Don Helleman, Kerri Kightley, and Stephanie Wood. Thank you for your time given. Your hard work and dedication to making PUL be its best self will be missed.

2017 was also the the year for many firsts. The second session of Thursday Winter saw the first Juniors team, coached by Jon Grimwood, Jocelyn Blazey and Mark Mann. Speaking of Juniors, it was the first time we welcomed them into our Adult Summer League. It was also the first time both our Competitive Junior Women’s team, Soar (teaming up with Durham’s Night Fury), and our Competitive Junior Open team, Rogue Squadron, made it to Nationals. A shout out to Jocelyn Blazey, Kerri Kightley, Todd Melville and Jocelyne Stone is deserved for their time, energy, support and guidance as coaches.  Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Jocelyn Blazey, Kerri Kightley and Stephanie Wood PUL formed a women’s touring team, Fox. (Jocelyn Blazey, you’ve been busy!) It was also the first year we had someone so young help run Harvest. Thanks to Henry Helleman for sharing his parents Don and Sarah in order to make Harvest yet another great success. Another first…Stephanie Wood became PUL’s first woman observer.

Thank you 2017 for a great year of Ultimate.

Welcome 2018, what exciting things will you bring to PUL this year?
